Before installation

You need a domain linked to hosting that supports the current WordPress version, PHP requirements and a database. Verify DNS and HTTPS. Keep your hosting login secure and use the exact installation tools available in your account.

Install through a supported tool

Some cPanel plans include Softaculous or another application installer. If yours does, select WordPress, choose the destination domain and directory, and set a strong administrator username and password. Do not install accidentally inside a folder such as /wp if you want the website at the root domain.

If an installer is not included, WordPress also offers a manual installation path: upload files, create a database and follow its setup instructions. Confirm the current official documentation for the version you use.

Set the important settings

After signing in, set the site title, preferred permalink structure, language and timezone. Remove unused themes and plugins, and make sure administrative email is an address you actually monitor.

Secure and back up the site

Enable HTTPS, update WordPress and extensions, use unique credentials, and arrange backups that include both database and uploaded files. Backups should be tested, not merely assumed to exist.

Make it usable and findable

Choose a mobile-friendly theme, optimize large images, add descriptive page titles and create genuinely useful pages. Ensure your important pages are not blocked by WordPress’s search visibility setting. A new website still needs indexing and content work after going live.
