What does .ng mean?

The .ng country-code top-level domain is associated with Nigeria. It differs from a name ending in .com.ng: these are separate domain registrations. Owning brand.ng does not automatically give you brand.com.ng, or the other way around.

Before choosing an extension, review current registry requirements and any restrictions that apply to your intended name. Nigeria's domain registry is NiRA, which publishes official registration policies. See the NiRA policy information for authoritative requirements.

When might .ng be a good fit?

It may suit a short Nigerian brand name, a locally focused service or a project that wants the Nigerian extension to be part of its identity. A domain extension does not, by itself, guarantee better search rankings or local visibility. Helpful content and a usable site remain important.

Registration checklist

  1. Search the complete domain, for example mybrand.ng, to see availability.
  2. Compare the initial registration and renewal price with .com.ng or .com.
  3. Check whether your name conflicts with an existing trademark.
  4. Keep the domain's owner and contact details accurate.
  5. Configure the correct nameservers or DNS records after purchase.

Estha's domain search sends your requested name into its client-area registration flow. The final availability and price are displayed there.
